Thanks to a successful grant request, the Women’s Health and Childbirth Center at Alton Memorial Hospital received more than $73,000 this year to help make sure that pregnant and postpartum women facing health inequities due to social and economic factors receive the help they need. Kathy Alford-Spitze is the peer recovery specialist added to the staff.

Alton Memorial Hospital’s College Avenue entrance will be closed starting Tuesday, Oct. 3, and is expected to remain closed approximately a month for renovation work. Entrances to the Alton Memorial campus from Rock Springs Drive and Brown Street will remain open at all times.

The Senior Health Insurance Program (SHIP) office at Alton Memorial Hospital is again taking appointments for Medicare open enrollment this year. Appointments are required and can be made by calling the BJC Central Scheduling Department at 800-392-0936. Medicare Open Enrollment runs from Oct. 15 through Dec. 7.
