One of the new providers at Convenient Care is Stan Gooding, a Family Nurse Practitioner graduate from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. Previously, Gooding was an RN with Air Methods Corp, providing helicopter and emergency medical services and critical care transport.

“The ARCH job was by far the most challenging because you get the sickest of the sickest patients with minimal resources in the way of extra hands during the transfer,” Gooding said.

He also worked 15 years for BJC HealthCare as a paramedic as well as in Cardiology and the Emergency Department.

“I spent the bulk of my time as a nurse in the ED, and the cardiac cath job at AMH gave me a sound foundation in cardiology because physicians with St Louis Cardiology were so gifted and willing to share their knowledge,” Gooding said. “I have worked in about every area of the hospital setting, which gives me a good foundation for caring for the variety of the patient population we serve at AMCC.”

Gooding earned a Nursing degree from Lewis and Clark Community College in 1993 and also has worked as a volunteer firefighter.

“Convenient Care is aptly named because it is convenient for people to be seen when their primary care provider is booked and they are ill,” Gooding said. “We can meet their needs.”

Convenient Care offers walk-in care for patients of all ages, with a co-pay that is often less expensive than urgent cares. The providers treat a variety of minor injuries and illnesses, including: cough, cold and flu symptoms; joint and minor muscle strains; minor scrapes, cuts or bruises; sore throat or earache; insect bites or rashes; sinus symptoms; eye irritation; infections; and fevers under 101 degrees.

Alton Memorial Convenient Care has top-quality medical professionals, so our patients can be confident that they're getting the highest level of care from great BJC nurse practitioners. All providers are members of BJC Medical Group and able to follow up directly with any BJC physician regarding your care.
