Construction is entering the final stage on the 41,000-square-foot addition to Medical Office Building B (foreground) at Alton Memorial Hospital.
With the new building actually connected to the existing office space, it was necessary to close the main entrance to allow construction of a new, larger entrance. During the final phase of construction, patients and staff now enter through a temporary entrance on the east side of the building.
Once completed and open this spring, the building will add expanded space for pediatrics, internal medicine, obstetrics, psychiatry, gastroenterology and a large outpatient lab. The $8 million project will also allow room for future growth in primary care and other needed specialists.
