There are times when an older adult may require care and treatment in a hospital setting to treat the emotional issues they are facing. Senior members of the community can find this care at The Center for Senior Renewal Inpatient Behavioral Health Unit where an experienced and highly skilled team cares for older adults living with a variety of mental health issues.
How we help
Our treatment team develops an individualized plan of care to treat each patient’s emotional issues in a caring and secure environment. The program is under the direction of a board-certified psychiatrist. Your multidisciplinary treatment team will include specially trained nurses, licensed counselors and recreational therapists. We also offer a Care Partner Program that allows a family member or a friend to work with the patient and staff.
The 20-bed behavioral health unit is located on the second floor of Alton Memorial Hospital’s Olin Wing. During a patient’s stay they may participate in any of the following:
- Daily psychotherapy with a psychiatrist
- Group therapy with other senior adults struggling with similar issues
- Group education and activities
- Regular communication with family members
- Medical consultations to treat co-existing conditions, such as diabetes
Will my insurance pay for treatment?
The cost of the Center for Senior Renewal treatment services is covered by Medicare and most secondary commercial insurance health plans. Normal deductibles and co-pays apply.
