Addiction Withdrawal Services
At Alton Memorial Hospital, we provide inpatient medical stabilization for patients with drug or alcohol related health concerns. Through our partnership with New Vision, patients receive effective care for withdrawal symptoms.
New Vision provides care to adults who are currently using or are experiencing acute withdrawal symptoms from alcohol or opiates. The program consists of a medically supervised hospital stay for inpatient stabilization that typically lasts three-to-five nights.
Patients are cared for by a compassionate, multidisciplinary team consisting of a medical director and nursing personnel. By utilizing their training and extensive experience, the staff ensure that each patient receives the attention necessary for safe medical stabilization in the hospital while also receiving the dignity, respect and empathy every patient deserves.
Upon admission, a thorough assessment of the patient is completed, including a physical, a laboratory workup and a nursing assessment. Patients who do not meet the medical criteria will be referred to the appropriate care. Following medical stabilization, discharge planning occurs. In most cases, the patient will be referred to appropriate treatment programs to blend education regarding chemical dependency with practical methodologies to prevent relapse.
Inpatient admission referral must be approved by a licensed physician. Call 618.433.6687 for more information about New Vision.
