618.463.7501 6:30 p.m.-8 p.m. The first and third Tuesdays of each month 3rd Floor Education Department Alton Memorial Hospital One Memorial Drive Alton, Illinois 62002 USA The Grief, Loss, Change Support Group is for those in transition; and offers a safe, holistic approach to wellness for persons suffering from grief, loss or change of any kind. Facilitators for this self-help group include a Stephen Minister, certified bereavement facilitators and education professionals. Most meetings include an educational component. As a natural, normal and necessary reaction to loss, grief is imperative for those who need to heal from a loss and ultimately experience emotional growth. Grief can bring a wide range of emotions, including deep sadness and anger. Although some of these feelings may be new or frightening, they are normal reactions in the first step on the road to healing. Participants are encouraged to bring a relative or friend to the first few meetings until they are comfortable with the group. Participants also are encouraged not to judge the group after only one meeting . . . sometimes it's the second, third or fourth meeting that offers the right person or the right words to help each participant in their grief work. |
