New Supportive Living Facility to Open in 2008

Glenhaven Gardens of Alton -- a supportive living facility -- is under construction on Alton Memorial Hospital's campus. The 69,000-square-foot, $9.2 million building includes 92 assisted living apartments for persons 65 and older.

"There is a growing need for affordable assisted living facilities in our region," says Alton Memorial Hospital president Dave Braasch. "Glenhaven Gardens will address that need and provide residents with the convenience of nearby health services, physician offices and a pharmacy on campus."

Residents of Glenhaven Gardens will receive all meals, assistance with personal care as needed, and medication reminders as part of their monthly fee. The emphasis will be on maintaining the health, privacy and independence of residents. Housekeeping, laundry, recreational events and scheduled transportation are also included.
