Pediatric Services

Children requiring hospitalization can receive care in Alton Memorial Hospital's pediatric care unit. The unit is staffed by registered nurses with expertise in pediatric care.

Emergency Care
For emergency care, turn to the experts in our emergency department, which is approved for pediatric care by the Illinois Department of Public Health and Emergency Medical Services for Children as an excellent provider of care for children. Many of the Emergency Department's nurses are certified in Pediatric Advanced Cardiac and Trauma Support as well as Pediatric Advanced Life Support.

The Emergency Department has two dedicated rooms for pediatric patients -- one for major cases like automobile accidents or other serious injuries, and another for less serious ailments and injuries.

Pediatric Rehabilitation
Specialized rehabilitative care for children is available from the therapists in our rehabilitation department. Pediatric therapists are certified for Children and Family Connections.
