The White Cross Auxiliary's primary function is to raise money for Alton Memorial Hospital equipment, expansion projects and special services that enhance patient care and make hospital stays more comfortable and enjoyable.
Proceeds from the Auxiliary's hospital gift shop and various fund-raising activities have been used to establish a state-of-the-art mammography suite, provide continuing education for hospital staff, offer free meals for new moms who deliver their babies at Alton Memorial Hospital, and much more.
White Cross Auxiliary membership is diverse, with all ages, genders, occupations and backgrounds represented.
Hospital Volunteers
A variety of volunteer opportunities are available at Alton Memorial Hospital, including positions in the hospital gift shop, at the information desk, in mail delivery and in various hospital departments. Days and hours are flexible, and the skill requirements vary with each position.
Volunteers are required to join the White Cross Auxiliary with annual dues of $5. This entitles members to discounts in the gift shop, cafeteria and in the pharmacy. A volunteer jacket must be worn and can be purchased in the volunteer office.
Youth volunteers, aged 14 to 18 are also welcome. If interested, contact the volunteer office. All youth volunteers must attend an orientation.
