Dr. Andrew Chu Wins AMH Chairman’s Award

Andrew Chu MD, medical director of the Alton Memorial Hospital lab, is the winner of the 2022 AMH Chairman’s Award. Dr. Chu won based on nominations submitted by employees and his fellow physicians.

In His Own Write

Michael Ringering’s full-time job is the administrator of several specialty physicians’ offices on the Alton Memorial Hospital campus, but he keeps himself quite busy away from the office, too. Writing is his other game, and Ringering recently released his third novel, Where Butterflies Go to Die, as well as his fifth short story, The Boy Who Ate Dirt. Both are available now in both eBook and paperback on Amazon Kindle, Apple Books, Nook, Kobo, and Smashwords.

For Vertigo, Give Physical Therapy a Whirl

Vertigo is a common problem that can be treated by seeking a referral to physical therapy for vestibular rehabilitation. Dr. Mary Schinkel, DO, is with BJC Medical Group ENT Specialists on the Alton Memorial Campus (Medical Office Building B, Suite 230) and often makes referrals to HMI for vertigo. BJC Outpatient Center Coming to Godfrey

BJC HealthCare will make it easier for families to access BJC’s world-class care in the Godfrey area in 2023. BJC will develop a 14,000-square-foot outpatient care facility with additional shell space for future expansion at the corner of Godfrey Road and Celesta Street.

AMH Provides New Technology to Area Athletes

The Alton Memorial Hospital  Human Motion Institute has begun using a new tool called the Athletic Movement Index (AMI) test. AMI uses wearable technology to screen athletes and patients for risk of injury. AMH Adds Family/Sports Medicine Physician

Amy McClintock, MD, is a board-certified physician specializing in family medicine and sports medicine. She began recently at BJC Medical Group Primary Care and Sports Medicine, inside the BJC Outpatient Center located at 2120 Troy Road in Edwardsville. Duck Pluckers Sparks ‘Flood’ of Donations

The deluge of rain that arrived during the 13th annual Duck Pluckers, Deer Skinners & Fish Hookers Ball on Sept. 10 was nothing compared to the flood of generosity by the community. The Alton Memorial Hospital Services Foundation easily set a record with $203,000 raised – at least 50 percent more than any other year. WATCH VIDEO HERE.

Who’s Treating Whom?

Lovie Ward has been a patient at the Alton Memorial Hospital Cancer and Infusion Center for the past several months, and during that time a lot of treatment has happened. It just so happens that a large portion of that treatment had been administered by Lovie to other people.

Patients Can Breathe Easy with EBUS Procedure

Endobronchial Ultrasound (EBUS) bronchoscopy is a procedure used to diagnose different types of lung disorders including inflammation, infections or cancer. The procedure is now available at Alton Memorial Hospital.
